Area Senior Services

Several helpful services are available for seniors in the Brookdale area, and we'd like to highlight the following which may be helpful to anyone age 60 or over.

ST. LOUIS NORC
Did you know that you live in a naturally occurring retirement community (NORC)? A NORC is a geographic area with a large percentage of residents over age 60. To help neighbors continue to live independently and safely in their homes, a variety of services are available. Services include minor home repair and technology troubleshooting assistance by trained and screened volunteers, discounts to area businesses (e.g., The J, Waterway Carwash, McDonalds), quarterly newsletters with useful resources, and access to caring professionals who provide connections to programs and services to meet your unique needs. Here’s the link to the latest newsletter.

To learn more about becoming a NORC member or volunteer, contact Joan Hirst at jhirst@jfsstl.org or 314-812-9344, or visit stlnorc.org.

COUNTY OLDER RESIDENTS PROGRAM (CORP)
Per their website, "The County Older Resident Programs (CORP) provides a variety of services to St. Louis County residents age 60 and over. We serve the primary needs of older adults, through a wide variety of programs and services. We actively supports older adults and are a leader for the St. Louis County Age-Friendly Community Action Plan." Services include transportation, home visits and telephone reassurance, home care and repair, tax preparation, insurance claims assistance, and much more.

Learn more by calling 314-615-4516 or TTY 1-800-735-2966 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, or visit the CORP website.

We hope you'll share with others and take advantage of these organizations and opportunities to help seniors thrive.
